Council is proposing to set vehicle crossing controls on roads within the jurisdiction of Stratford District Council by:
defining the requirements for the construction of vehicle crossings;
protecting land, structures, and infrastructure related to vehicle crossings from damage, misuse, or loss;
prohibiting unauthorised use of land, structures, or infrastructure associated with vehicle crossings; and
outlining maintenance responsibilities for vehicle crossings and any associated culverts.
While vehicle crossing construction and maintenance requirements are currently guided by the Council’s Vehicle Crossing Policy, this new bylaw is created to provide Council with powers to regulate, control and enforce the vehicle crossing controls. By doing this, Council can ensure:
public safety, health and order;
compliance with vehicle crossing requirements and controls;
address breaches and offences; and
take legal action against violators, if necessary.
